Contact MedOffice Career Institute to book an admissions test. Once you complete and pass the admissions test, you will be eligible for entrance to your program of choice.
How To Prepare For The Admissions Test
ESL
If English is not your first language, obtain software such as Rosetta Stone or other teaching tools in order to improve your English. If you learn better in a classroom or you do not have regular access to a computer, many communities offer free English as a Second Language courses. Contact your local community centre, immigrant outreach program, or government office for availability of free English as a Second Language courses.
Communication is vital in a medical environment. Medical professionals will expect you to have a high level of English in order to record and communicate medical terminology and conditions. It is highly advisable that your English be up to par before undertaking any medical office administration training.
Computer Knowledge
As with ESL, many employment and government agencies offer general computer knowledge courses. Government programs often offer such courses for free, as do community employment training centers.
Many temporary agencies also offer basic computer knowledge classes at no charge to their employees. Signing with one of these agencies will help you build up the necessary funds to take MedOffice Career Institute courses, and provide you with the basic computer knowledge that you need as well. Such an experience will also provide background for your resume and on-the-job computer training.
Medical office assistants require strong computer skills in order to maintain efficiency in a fast-paced environment.
Work Experience
Any relevant experience will be taken into account on your admissions test. Office experience is preferred, but other types of job experience may count as well. Any successful job experience shows an ability to follow instructions and carry out tasks.
